WordPress Update

I got the notification that there was an update to the version of WordPress installed, no naturally, I updated. I have to say I love this new version (5.6)!

Before, I had to keep a relatively basic theme installed (I downloaded it from wordpress.org, but in the stylesheet renamed it as Editor Theme since that was all I kept it for) so I could use the visual editor (I make my themes with Artisteer and for some reason I could never figure out, with those themes activated as default, I couldn’t switch between visual and text, nor could I set up my sidebar widgets, so I used the basic theme when I was using the editor, then had to use WordPress’s Live Preview for the changing of the widgets). Now! Long story short, after updating I looked though the editor and I DON’T need to switch to that basic theme to switch between Visual and Text.

Way to go WordPress!

Midnight In Salem

When the game first came out last year, I pre-ordered the PC physical copy….and saved it back for Christmas. After Christmas, I attempted to install it to my Inspiron 3555 (old PC now), and it wouldn’t go past the loading screen (so it wouldn’t even get to the game menu). As it turns out, my old PC couldn’t run it, which was okay…I planned on upgrading within a year anyways and could be sure the new one could. — Fast-forward to now….I have officially fully played EVERY Nancy Drew PC game (I started MID last night and finished today)

First impressions…
I personally don’t get all of the hate — yes, there’s noticeable differences, just from Sea of Darkness to Midnight In Salem. It’s weird to play a ND game without Lani Minella voicing Nancy, but the new voice actress did a fabulous job. The gameplay was a little weird, but I adjusted (I have played King’s Quest 8: Mask Of Eternity, which is also 3D and again also quite hated in it’s fanbase, so I think that may have helped me adjust to the difference in graphic style and maneuverability).

I loved the theme and story behind this game, my only real complaint was when you turned around and a character was RIGHT UP IN YOUR FACE.

Missed having Bess and George as phone contacts, though loved having the Hardys in person (my favorite version of them is STILL Last Train To Blue Moon Canyon)

Rant

Last year I ordered a portable blu-ray drive for my computer, because Dell isn’t putting even DVD drives in laptops anymore, so my new computer won’t have it’s own drive (and so I can watch the Blu-Ray disc of movies). Recently I noticed a couple bits of the spindle have flaked off, so I replaced it with one that even has a couple usb ports, and also a SD slot AND a micro SD slot. Roughly 2 weeks after I got that drive, my computer didn’t register it….the last couple days have been kinda a battle with the seller.

The drive’s accompanying cords never worked for it (I had to use my old drive’s cord, which luckily has the same connector type) to use the drive. While taking the photos the seller asked for, the drive’s metal connector in it’s rear popped off.

They responded that they will be sending a new drive (which is coming Tuesday….but one part of their response kinda pissed me off, to the point of making this blog entry. This is their most recent message (the yellow text is what inspired this rant)

Hello Jen,
Thank you very much for your information. Just now we had arranged to send the new drive to you and you will get it on 23 June.Once there is a tracking number,we will inform you at first time, thanks.
Please pay more attention when pluging cable into the drive.
Best wishes.
Linda

Yes, all of the messages from them had that not-good grammar, which isn’t the cause for my irk….what caused it was them basically saying I jammed the cord into the connector. The drive is by the brand Guamar, and the Amazon seller is Biscon Tech. Would I buy from them again? Probably not. Would I tell people stay away? again, probably not. The drive is good, I just am not 100% thrilled with their customer service (though they are sending the new drive quickly, which I am impressed with). If, in the future, I would need to replace this drive, would I get one from them again? I doubt it. I would probably go back to Pioneer.

One last thing, the above paragraph is not intended to bad-mouth Biscon, this is all just my own personal opinion, and if it changes with the new drive (maybe I just got a bad one) I will post a new entry

Update!!

The last couple months haven’t had much to post about. Life has been somewhat normal. Work-wise and home-wise. Last week I had to replace my computer’s portable bluray drive, some of the “teeth” on it’s spindle broke off. While I was waiting for the new (and a little more fancier one), I used my computer’s optical drive for regular Dvds…then it stopped working, so within a few days of Dell having me try a couple things, then when those didn’t work, they put in an order to send me a new drive (which hasn’t come yet, but I do have my new portable bluray drive now.

Vacation got pushed back because of The Rona. Instead of going June 23-24, we got our hotel reservations pushed back to July 28-29. Found out this morning that CP announced their opening day – July 9 (2 months from when they should have opened, and would have if not for The Rona). Yes, things will be different with the health protocols, but it’s still a getaway)

Work

This past week has been short, I only had 3 days (13 hours total), and I just got next week’s schedule, and I’m honestly enthusiastic for it. It’s almost like an old normal week, the first once before corona.

Easter

Originally, I was scheduled to have Easter Sunday off, but the schedule was changed, and I now work 10-4. I welcome the hours because this will already be a short enough check.

With our Easter Sunday hours this year being 11-7, this means I’ll do something I haven’t done at work since starting at BK…Open

Wow

For the first time since the Corona started we were actually busy at work…😲. It was like an old NORMAL day

But, our awesome assistant manager, Dave posted so they don’t have to cut anyone he personally (though working) won’t take any compensation for THREE MONTHS

Grey’s Anatomy

I normally don’t post about the shows I like, but after all of the backlash of this past Thursday’s goodbye to Alex Karev, I want to get my thoughts out there.

Like many, I assumed they were killing him off because he was so radio silent, but unlike many, I see this as a fitting exit. It doesn’t change the progress he made as a character if you really think about it.

Alex reached out to his ex for his best friend’s benefit when she needed it, and in that reach out he found out some things Izzie should have told him. Yes, he signed off his right to the embryos and told her she could do what she wanted with them, so legally she didn’t have to tell him she had his kids, but normal Izzie (the way she was before she was written off) would have.

The episode in a whole was beautiful. It was a great goodbye, and it had nostalgia with archive footage of Arizona, George, Izzie, Cristina & Derek. Also, with Alex alive and well, if Justin Chambers would be willing sometime down the road (and maybe for the series final) he could guest-star (and not just as a ghost or flashback like what would happen with so many of the other past stars)

It’s on par with how Callie, Arizona, Burke, Cristina & April have been written out – they could appear in the future on a guest spot, actor-permitting – just as Addison has a few times in the past.

Thankfully I’m off tomorrow

Today was another workday…and I’m glad tomorrow isn’t.

For most of the day it wasn’t busy, and in between orders in the afternoon, I did get the day’s dishes done, but between 3:30 & 4….it was a busy bitch….and it didn’t help that management had her headset off and so I didn’t get any help except for stuff dropped into the fryer when I called for it…..but still.

Idiots

Today at work it was like the attack of the idiots. Not alot in the orders really stand out….but I SHOULD have been off at 4 (and didn’t get to leave until 15 after because the next shift person chose to not even waltz through the door until 5 after, then we still had a few orders, so management couldn’t get my drawer pulled on time.

Yesterday

I intended to post yesterday, but I never got around to it.

Work has been normal, though stand-out moments to really mention, which is why I haven’t posted. Yesterday I worked, though I felt bloaty and heartburny all day, which I had contributed with starting a new breakfast cereal (strawberry rice crispies), figuring it didn’t mix well with my morning pills, so after work I bought a new ceral (trix); and put the rice crispies in a bag to sometime get marshmallows and make rice crispy treats.

Yesterday evening was when it really hit me….the flu. Chills, body aches, vomiting and diarrhea.

Luckily today (and after sleeping almost 9 hours – which is LONG for me) I feel much better

Bad Day…

Today was a busy-ass day at work…but more than that, we had to say goodbye to one of our kitties.

The last couple weeks it has seamed she has been suffering from a tremendous cold, but yesterday it was clear by the way she was walking it was much worse than that.

Some Like It Slow

Today wasn’t exactly a slow day, as the post title may hint at…but sometimes post titles don’t come all that easy to me.

I worked a normal shift today, and lunch was steady. After lunch, it was relatively slow. To the point, I got drivethru all stocked (including sauces) before 3:45…and kinda scrounged to find something to clean to fill up the last 15 minutes

Even on a not really remarkable day….

Today at work it wasn’t really remarkable. Although we had a busy spurt, it was kinda an easy day, but in the afternoon, one of my lower-tier managers came in on her day off to talk to the manager on duty about something. Before she left, she wasn’t sure if I’ve seen the Nosy Asses Of Van Wert facbook page, but one of our other managers saw a post on it, praising the two of us that were up front yesterday (which was she and I)

Today……Just Today

Today I was on drive-thru (which I honestly prefer over front counter) and we had a customer that was a doozy. He ordered a Stacker King (which is just Stacker sauce, cheese, bacon and whopper patty; single is 1 whopper patty, double has 2 and triple has 3). I was handing out the customer at the window’s food when the doozy came to the speaker box, so one of my co-workers took the order, and as you’d expect asked if he wanted single, double or triple and he said single.

NOW, when he gets to the window, he bitches up a storm, questioning why she asked that and so on. I tried explaining that it comes all three ways and stacker was it’s name (where he bitches Wendys has a stacker that is always meat cheese meat cheese) Now my manager came up, and explained it AGAIN….customer was still bitchy.

After he left Roy (manager) goes: If you like how Wendys makes theirs…go there and bitch to them

Busy

Today it was busy at work. I hadn’t looked at the clock after 2 until someone ordered a frozen coke and I turned around to look at the machine to make sure it wasn’t on defrost and saw it wasn’t but the cherry was (coke starts at 3, takes about 15 minutes and then the cherry starts around 3:30). When I saw the cherry was on defrost, I looked at the clock and it was 3:35)

Sadness

Yesterday I heard some sad news and I debated blogging about it because it’s celebrity news.

It was announced on #GoodMorningAmerica by the actress herself…Shannen Doherty’s breast cancer is back, and in stage 4.

She was diagnosed over a year ago, means she filmed the BH90210 miniseries with this diagnoses.

Anyone who knows me real well knows, I have always been a huge Shannen fan; from the original Beverly Hills, 90210…to Charmed…to her stint in the 90210 reboot in 2008 and in movies. I even had a cat, Teddy (he looked like Salem from Sabrina, The Teenage Witch) that loved Shannen (if I watched Charmed or 90210 and it was after she left the series, he would leave the room)

Back in 2015, when Shannen announced her cancer, I was shocked and saddened…then the following year after her chemo and radiated (and since she catalogued it in media so her fans could see her truth) I was joyed for her that she was in remission…so now that it’s back and in the terminal stage 4 state….I’m saddened; for Shannen, her family and friends who truly know her, and for others like me who are just fans of the art of her acting.

While she’s with us: Thank you, Shannen for the beauty of your realness and the beautiful art of your acting <3

A Jack of all trades

At work I’m kinda a little bit of a jack of all trades…drive-thru, dishes, front counter, cleaning, kitchen.

It’s not often I do get to be in the kitchen though. Most of the time I run the drive-thru and handle front counter (sometimes back and forth at the same time) and in the afternoons, I do just that and also dishes in between orders.

Yesterday I did get to be in the kitchen a bit, but not today.

Today was a day of idiots. Every time today I had to pull a car due to something being in the fryer or broiler, and tell the customer that there was a wait and to pull up by the door….everytime the customer would literally point at the door and say “pull up there?”

Welcome Back World

I lost my old host for financial means (on her end) So I had to switch hosts. The website is now with DewLance. I hadn;t had a chance to backup any of my content, so it’s taken a week to rewrite the pages (I lost the fanfic :(), make new themes and get WordPress installed.

The backend with this host is different than what I’d been accustomed to, but I’ve gotten used to it (and although my cpanel username is unusual and I didn’t get to choose it, I now have it memorized to where I don’t have to look it up in my email from them 😀

As of right now, Wednesday, January 20, 2020 @ 4:26 AM, Always Forever is back up and running
