King’s Quest 1 – Quest For The Crown

This is the first game in the series. The game begins with knight Graham on a quest to restore the three lost treasures of Daventry (the magic mirror, the magic chest & the magic shield).

Upon starting the game, I always open the settings and adjust the sound volume, music volume, speech volume & game speed all the way to the max.

Walk two screens left to a rock in the middle. Walk behind the rock, and push it. Look inside the hole, and take the dagger.

Walk one screen up, to a big tree. Climb in and carefully cross to the nest and take the golden egg and return to the ground. note: if you fall you won’t die, you just have to climb and cross all over again.

Walk up twice to the walnut tree and take one from the ground. Open it to reveal it’s a golden walnut.

Walk right and take the bowl, then walk down and talk to the elf. Walk down again and take a carrot.

Walk up twice, left twice and down. With the dagger, take the bucket.

Walk down and right and take the stones.

Walk left and down to the cabin. In the inventory, look at the bowl and use the hand on it. Enter the cabin and give the bowl of stew to the couple. Take the fiddle and play it.

Leave the cabin and walk down twice to the gingerbread house. SAVE HERE Knock and if the witch calls out do not touch the house, leave and return; if there’s no answer, enter. (Note: this part can be random whether she’s there or not).

Enter the house and go to the bedroom. Take the paper and read it. When the witch comes, hide.

When she’s at the cauldron, quickly walk to her and push her in (I used to save it at the hiding spot). Open the cupboard to the right and take the cheese. Leave the house.

Walk down twice to the well and left to the goat’s pen.

Open the pen, enter and close the door. Go to the left side and give the carrot to the goat to get him to follow you. Leave the pen and walk two screens left. Watch the scene with the Fairy Godmother. After she departs, walk up, take a clover and continue up to the bridge. Click the bridge and the goat will knock the troll off. Continue over the bridge and talk to the little man.

Remember the note from the witch’s nightstand? His name is Rumplestiltskin, but you need to give him his name backwards so type NIKSTLITSELPMUR, he gives you magic beans.

Walk right across the grass bridge and continue right. Plant the beans and carefully climb the stalk (until I got good ad it I used to save ALOT on the beanstalk and the cloudy realm above)

Walk right twice, down, then right twice more. Use the hand on the right tree and take the slingshot.

Walk up and wear the magic ring and walk left. Wait for the giant to fall asleep and take the chest. (After you have the chest you can kill the giant, but I just let him sleep). Walk down and left and CAREFULLY pass through the clouds and climb back down the beanstalk to the ground.

Walk up and go to the stump. Look inside and take the pouch. Open the pouch.

Walk up twice, right and down to the well. Lower the rope and climb down and swim left and up to the surface. Fill the bucket with water and go left. Use the bucket on the dragon. After he leaves, take the mirror and go left.

At the top of the tunnel, lower the game speed. Walk out and to the stones by the X and catch the condor (bird).

When gameplay resumes, turn the speed back up and carefully walk past the hole (do not fall in it yet, we need something first. Go left and take the mushroom. Return to the hold and fall down.

Walk down and left and to 2-3 stalactites from the giant rat (if you’re not close enough, he will tell you to come closer). Give him the cheese and after a moment, he poofs away.

After he disappears, go through the door and play the fiddle. (here you can use the clover on them, but you won’t get the septer in the next room). When the leprechauns disappear, go left. After all of these leprechauns leave, take the golden septer and the shield and go left to the hole.

Eat the mushroom and exit through the hole. Graham will automatically return to his correct size.

Now you must return to the castle. Walk left two screens down four screens and right four screens. Click the hand on the gate.
