Nancy is working for the Beech Hill museum in Washington, DC, as a deputy curator.\u00a0 This is an internship position, which her dad\u2019s friend, Franklin Rose, helped her get.\u00a0 Beech Hill museum is closed now and getting ready for an Ancient Mayan Culture exhibit.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Nancy\u00a0meets Joanna Riggs\u2026. In the exhibit hall.\u00a0 She shows Nancy the jade carving of King Pacal.\u00a0 Later they talk in her office and she tells Nancy there is a list of tasks she would like done on Nancy\u2019s desk in the lab.\u00a0 Before you leave Joanna\u2019s office, look at the magazines on the round table in the corner.\u00a0 Look at \u201cArt in the America\u2019s\u201d.\u00a0 Click on the paragraph about Rutherford on page 28.\u00a0 Nancy will say, \u201c Topeka Commission for the Arts\u2026how cultured!\u201d\u00a0 Now you can look through the rest of the article.<\/p>\n

Before going to the lab take a look around the lobby of the museum.\u00a0 Leave the office and turn around to view the plaques on each side of Joanna\u2019s office door.\u00a0 Especially look at the plaque on the right side that lists the major contributors and click on the bottom section where it lists Lady Prudence Rutherford and the Topeka Commission for the Arts.\u00a0 Nancy will say, \u201cTopeka Commission for the Arts \u2013 that\u2019s the organization Prudence Rutherford works for!\u201d<\/p>\n

Go to the admission desk and look at the map.\u00a0 (Notice some of the glyphs and their translations.\u00a0 It will be useful later. )<\/p>\n

Go around the other side of the admission desk and look in the drawer.\u00a0 Take the Temple Key card<\/p>\n

Notice there is a knob missing on the doors to the headphones.<\/p>\n

Go out towards the double golden doors, but turn to your left and go into the alcove.\u00a0 Pick up the paper that is folded into an airplane.\u00a0 You will need this later to finish task #3.<\/p>\n

The double doors lead to the Metro station.\u00a0 The red dots show where you can go at this time.<\/p>\n

The Colonial Hotel is where Nancy is staying.\u00a0 Her laptop is there and contains her notes about what she has done and what she needs to do next.\u00a0 This is very helpful if you get stuck and don\u2019t know what to do.\u00a0 Later as you pick up Sonny\u2019s floppy disk and Henrik\u2019s disk you can access the information from Nancy\u2019s computer.<\/p>\n

You can also call her friends, Bess and George, for help.\u00a0 Use the alarm clock if you have to change times.<\/p>\n

Time to get to work!\u00a0 Go to the LAB\u2026<\/p>\n

To find the lab, go all the way through the main exhibit hall and veer right before you get to the pyramid.\u00a0 Go through the door that says \u201cEmployees Only\u201d and then take the door to your right that says \u201cLAB\u201d.<\/p>\n

LAB<\/u><\/p>\n

Nancy\u2019s desk is the one on the left facing the door.\u00a0 Find the list of tasks.\u00a0 Open the top drawer on the right and look at Sonny Joon\u2019s notebook.\u00a0 Look at the candy wrapper. Pick up the loose knob. (looks like it might fit on the glass cabinet in the lobby).\u00a0 Look along the counter at the Spectro X analyzer.\u00a0 Click on the switch and Nancy will say, \u201c I better get permission first.\u201d\u00a0 Look at Henrik\u2019s desk and also the ham radio.<\/p>\n

#4. Order Bubble wrap, packing tape, sticky labels. (easy to do first)<\/u><\/p>\n

Look at the list of suppliers next to the phone and call Silvio\u2019s Curatorial Bonanza<\/p>\n

At 555-9963.\u00a0 Talk to Silvio and try ordering more packing supplies.\u00a0 Your account<\/p>\n

number is BH119K.<\/p>\n

Before leaving the lab to do task #3 which is a PRIORITY, talk with Henrik.\u00a0 Ask about his work, monolith translations, etc.\u00a0 Ask about the order for packing material and he will absolve you from that task.\u00a0 Ask for advice.<\/p>\n

Leave the lab and go to the Mexican Consulate to finish task #3.\u00a0 Make sure you have found the Monolith Loan Agreement.\u00a0 It is that airplane folded paper in the alcove of the lobby.\u00a0 Talk with Alejandro del Rio.\u00a0 When you finish return to the museum and use the knob you found on the glass cabinet to get a pair of headphones.\u00a0 Go back to the lab and cross of task #3.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

#1. Sort out shards of pottery and re-assemble pot (at lab work station)<\/u><\/p>\n

You need to find 2 missing pieces first.\u00a0 One is in the box labeled Sonny\u2019s \u201cStuff\u201d<\/p>\n

located on a shelf in Shipping and Receiving across the hall from the Lab.\u00a0 The<\/p>\n

other piece can be found in a bowl on the top floor of the pyramid.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0After finding both missing pieces go to the work station in the lab.\u00a0\u00a0Click on the\u00a0pottery pieces and all 7 pieces will show up on the right side.\u00a0 Place your cursor over either side of the black turntable until it changes to a curved arrow.\u00a0 This will turn the vase and make it easier to place the pieces.\u00a0 When all the pieces stick in place you will know it is done and Nancy will say, \u201cThat\u2019s done!\u201d\u00a0 Now you can cross this task off your list.<\/p>\n

#5. Match recorded narrations\u2026<\/u><\/p>\n

Henrik will give you some help on how to do this if you ask him.\u00a0 This is what he says:<\/p>\n

There is a picture of how the exhibits are lettered on the Auto Narrator in Sonny\u2019s<\/p>\n

Using your head phones,\u00a0 go to each of the exhibits in the main hall and also in the garden.\u00a0 Listen to the exhibit and check to see if the audio matches with the exhibit.\u00a0 If it doesn\u2019t you need to change it on the Convomatic Auto Narrator located in the Shipping Receiving room.\u00a0 When they are arranged correctly Nancy will say, \u201cThat\u2019s done!\u201d\u00a0 Cross that task off your list and you will have only one more to do.<\/p>\n

You will need to find two tiles first.\u00a0 One is located in the main exhibition hall in the glass case in the section \u201cWho Were the Maya?\u201d\u00a0\u00a0 Click on the key hole to open the glass case.\u00a0 The other tile is located in the garden section on the Bicephalic Altar.<\/p>\n

Once you have those tiles, go to the end of the Language section in the main exhibition hall.\u00a0 Click on the key hole to open the case.\u00a0 See picture below:<\/p>\n

\u00a0For clues on solving this puzzle:<\/p>\n

Go to Nancy\u2019s room and check out Sonny\u2019s floppy disk.\u00a0 Insert it in the lower right hand slot of her laptop.\u00a0\u00a0 The password is\u00a0\u00a0koko kringle<\/u><\/i><\/b>.\u00a0\u00a0Under Stuff to Remember\u00a0<\/u>you will find Sonny\u2019s I\u2019d rather be counting sheep guide to the MAYA NUMBER SYSTEM.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 With this information and the two tiles you are ready to complete the task and mark it off your list.<\/p>\n

Go to the GARDEN<\/u><\/p>\n

While you are checking the narrations on the exhibits in the garden, look at the monolith.\u00a0\u00a0 Examine it closely by clicking on it and Nancy will say, \u201cThis side looks damaged.\u201d\u00a0 You will hear footsteps.\u00a0 Step back and you will meet Sinclair.\u00a0 Talk to him and he will tell you to meet him at his office.\u00a0 That site will be added to the metro map.<\/p>\n

After finishing all your tasks, talk with Joanna in her office.\u00a0 Go to Sinclairs and ask him why he said Beech Hill is in jeopardy.<\/p>\n

Before going back to Beech Hill, stop off at the Mexican Consulate and talk with Alejandro again.\u00a0 Go back to the lab and notice that Henrik is not there.\u00a0 As you leave the lab an alarm will go off and Joanna will tell you the police are on their way.\u00a0 You are at the crime scene and will see a paper with a scarlet hand print on it where the jade carving used to be.\u00a0 Talk with Joanna and then go back to the crime scene to take the note with the hand print.<\/p>\n

Go back to the lab.\u00a0 Henrik is not there but he left a note for you on the desk.<\/p>\n

Check your voice mail.\u00a0 Call Franklin Rose at 555-1441.<\/p>\n

Go back to lab<\/u><\/p>\n

Analyze the scarlet hand print on the note.<\/p>\n

Use the note with the scarlet hand print on the Spectro X Archaeo-Analyzer<\/p>\n

1. Click on the switch to turn it on<\/p>\n

2. Click on the door to the analyzer receptacle.<\/p>\n

3. Place the hand print inside<\/p>\n

4. Click on the screen, then click on START<\/p>\n

5. Click on compare<\/p>\n

6. Click on the left arrow to line up the graphs.<\/p>\n

7. Click on MATCH<\/p>\n

Nancy will say \u201cThat\u2019s it!\u201d<\/p>\n

The compound used to make the hand print is HgS<\/p>\n

Walk over to the Periodic Table<\/p>\n

Leave the lab and walk into the garden.\u00a0 Go in about 5 or 6 steps on either side of the temple and then turn around.\u00a0 Go toward the front of the temple and Henrik will fall down the stairs.<\/p>\n

An ambulance will come to take Henrik to the hospital and you will be back in your hotel room talking with Bess.<\/p>\n

By this time you should have analyzed the Red Handprint in the machine in the lab, and listened to your voicemail.\u00a0 You should also have called 555-6766 for the Mercury-Sulfur shipment.<\/p>\n
