Wishing Everyone a very Happy New Year 🙂
Wishing everyone a very Happy New Year 🙂
May 2019 be a much better year than 2018 was
I don’t know if I will get a chance to post online tomorrow with going out of town to visit family, so Merry Christmas 🎄
This past week has been a hard road. My dad was diagnosed with liver cancer (as mentioned in the last blog), which was listed as stage four and he was speculated 6-months or less to live. The day after that, he’d been moved to inpatient hospice. Two days after he was transferred there was when he passed away.
Yesterday was his viewing and today was his funeral. This has been a very heavy time, which I would never wish on anyone.
My dad and I didn’t always talk together about a lot, but I do miss him so very much, but I do have to say, I am glad he’s at peace and no longer in any pain.
You never know the gravity of a disease until it touches you personally. I found that out the hard way this past month, with my dad’s brief battle with liver cancer.
At first, it seemed like he was walking slower and less energetic, but that could be said with age (he was 70), but then after the fair, it was worse. We thought it was a cold, the he had aches and a changed appetite, so it seemed like the flu…but when it never cleared, my mom got him into the doctor. 5 months ago at his last checkup his labs were normal, but this time his liver enzymes we’re 4 times what they should be and he ended up referring him to a specialist who found the ultimate cause…a tumor had engulfed almost this whole liver in the 2 weeks he was in the hospital. Another test confirmed it was stage 4, and as weak was he was (the cancer wasn’t his only problem, he was also anemic) chemo/radiation wouldn’t help, it would only make him die sooner. We moved him to hospice, where he was for only two days before he passed away at 1:20am on October 26, 2018.
Today I just got Paul McCartney’s new CD, Egypt Station, and it was even better than I was even expecting. I loved almost every song! I do have to say Come On To Me is my favorite track (which I had heard and enjoyed that song before the CD came out, because he sang part of it on the episode of Carpool Karaoke he was on with James Corden
For the longest time my home phone and internet has been bundled with CenturyLink (local phone company). July’s bill is what changed this. We received it on July 23 on it’s due date, and it was postmarked 2 days earlier. When they were called, they were very bitchy and snippy and blatantly blamed the postal service, claiming they must have held it there for three weeks (mind you, the envelope only had ONE post mark.
So, yet that day, we arranged to switch the home phone to Verizon (who our cell phones are from) and called Spectrum to put in high-speed internet (since Verizon can only do hotspots).
So far, having Verizon for the phone is good (we had to get a new phone set because the home phone box plugs into the phone with a jack and 3 of our wireless handset had jack ports, but thanks to Walmart’s Savings Catcher, the phones didn’t cost physical money)
Spectrum High Speed internet is SO much better than CenturyLink ever was. The area is larger (my cell gets wifi out in the yard and garage) and it seams faster and smoother.
I saw a post in the “On This Day” section of Facebook that reminded me….Today is the 4-year anniversary of my interview at Burger King 😀
It’s been a long-ass time since I’ve had the gumption to post…not a whole lot has been going on.
On the work-front I’ve been busy. Been getting roughly around 20-30 hours each week; the bigger of those weeks the money has been good. A few months ago I had my review and was awarded a raise (only 15 cents more an hour, but any is good…especially since in the four years I’ve been with Burger King, I’ve only had that one review).
On a personal-front, a few weeks ago, my family had our annual Cedar Point trip. It was great, though my vacation shoes has finally had their last year walking that much at a time (between the two days I walked a combined 32.43 miles, as per accumulated on my pedometer.) Yes there are some thing I would have liked to have done this year, but there’s always next year 🙂 The photos I did take are in the gallery.
The last few days, I’ve noticed my Galaxy tablet has been running sluggish and hot (it’s old), so I ordered a new one (and it’s cheaper than the old one was :D) It came today and I LOOOOOOOOOVE it 😀
Normally I don’t post about shows, but last night a tidbit of Grey’s Anatomy news kinda pissed me off. Sometime between now and the end of the season April and Arizona (Sarah Drew and Jessica Capshaw) will be written off the show.
The last character write-off that pissed me off this much was the dual write off of Lexie and Mark (Chyler Leigh and Eric Dane)
I just hope they aren’t killed off like Lexie and Mark were, so hopefully they can return, even if just as a guest star (as was the case when Kate Walsh left in season 4 and Addison was able to reappear here or there)
I’ve been working on some updates for the last couple weeks. So far, the gallery’s new hosting is evident. I’m also working on changing where the vids are stored, due to the fact that the newest uploaded isn’t watchable there. I’m redoing the themes as well, though I haven’t yet decided if I will change the widgets or not.
